There are more flamingos here than any other area of the world.
Flamingos are sometimes called “fire bird“, because they have some very bright and unique colors.

The lake is full of algae that is a great food option for these birds.
The lake is also very salty, which means hardly any other animals can survive in the lake.
In this area of the world, the flamingo’s feathers are very bright due to the beta carotene found in the algae in the lake.
Tourists from all over the world travel thousands of miles to visit see this beautiful site.
Here’s a fun fact for you: A flock of flamingos is known as a flamboyance.
Flamingos have a wild lifespan of 20-30 years, but in captivity have been recorded as living up to 50 years or longer.
A adult flamingo’s legs can be 30-50 inches long, which is longer than their entire body.
The pink color flamingo’s feathers is caused by their food, and a flamingo’s diet includes shrimp, plankton, algae and crustaceans.
What an incredible site to see in person . I am sure the pictures don’t even come close to doing the justice of what this looks like. Lake Nakuru is definitely going on my bucket list.
