Stunt rider Robbie “Maddo” Maddison had a “pipe dream” — literally.
He dreamed of taking his dirt bike off road and onto the waves.
For two years, he’s been in the process of fine-tuning a bike with specialized wheels that could do just that.
Calling it a “chance to witness history being made,” DC Shoes presented the video showing Maddison take his bike “into the unchartered saltwater terrain of the Pacific Ocean in French Polynesia.”
And, wow, was this endeavor well received. Uploaded Sunday, the video has over 3 million views at the time of this posting Monday.
As of today since August 2 the video has over 12 million views
“Awesome, Unbelievable, Insane,” one YouTube user wrote in the comments.

According to ESPN, Maddison designed a set of skis to fit around the bike wheels and went through many iterations and ups and downs — some bikes literally sank — to get to a point where it was ready for the waves of Tahiti.
Though Maddison makes the ride on the amphibious vehicle look like a walk in the park, on Twitter he admitted that he faced enough injuries in trials for the stunt that he considered quitting.
Maddison told ESPN that he thinks some people were “laughing at me behind my back” or “thought I had lost my mind” as he pursued this venture.
Guess he showed them.
