Cady, as a baby. A controversial fertility expert is set to provoke uproar by claiming he has taken the first step towards cloning a dead human being. American scientist Dr Panos Zavos will announce that he has taken DNA from corpses and used it to create embryonic clones of the dead people. Zavos claims he has succeeded in taking DNA from an 11-year-old girls called Cady [pictured] and a 33-year-old man, who both died in road accidents, and implanted it into living eggs that subsequently divided in the labratory to form embryos. Zavos says Cady’s mother contacted him in August 2002 and gave him a blood sample from her dead daughter.
