What is it with teens? Why do they love doing the most dangerous sh*t in the world just to go viral for 30 seconds for the sole reason of looking like an idiot?
The answer? I’ll never know. Internet fame is a dangerous game and one an ever-changing world of teenagers and fame-hungry losers will eternally search for.
It’s relatively easy to achieve internet fame. It appears that all you need to do is something utterly ridiculous – and often extremely dangerous. Wow mum look at my video views! But what is fame when every comment is slamming you and you’re forgotten after three minutes.
Anyhow. We truly are in the age of Internet Idiocy. We’ve seen the Tide Pod challenge, the ‘choking game’ (which evidently led to numerous deaths), and now we have the condom challenge.
So just what is the condom challenge. It’s simple really. Unravelling a latex smelling lubricated Johnny, snorting it deep into the labyrinths of your nasal cavity, and then pulling it out from the back of your throat. Nasty.
Oh and of course there’s a gargantuan chance you might just choke to death on said condom. What a miserable way to die.
Hell, even if you don’t die there’s a good chance you can pick up a nasty infection. It’s almost as if condoms weren’t manufactured to be snorted and dragged out from the slobbery confines of your throat.
Bruce Lee, an associated professor at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, explained the dangers of the condom challenge in a recent article for Forbes.
In it, he wrote:
The condom could easily get stuck in your nose or your throat, blocking your breathing or causing you to choke.
Even if you manage to successfully pull the condom out through your mouth, inhaling a condom up your nose would be very uncomfortable and potentially quite painful. Would it really be worth all that just to get more likes and views?
Lee went onto list numerous times people have had pretty nasty experiences after accidentally swallowing condoms. Think blocked airways, collapsed lungs, and appendix’s being lodged.
So what’s the point of this article. Essentially just a warning not to do the condom challenge. There’s plenty of things you can do in life that are fun, funny, or interesting. Inhaling a device used to catch sperm up your nose isn’t one of them.
