At least 700 black turtles have been found dead along the Guerrero coast between February and March this year, according to reports protective of these marine species.

Nearly 1,700 geese were slaughtered at a farm in Chiayi County’s (嘉義縣) Taibao City (太保市) on Monday after an outbreak of the highly pathogenic avian influenza sub-type H5N2, in an effort to stop the disease from spreading.

Around 80 Olive Ridley turtles were found dead near Jatadhari river mouth on Paradip beach recently. The turtles were found floating off the Paradip coast which is close to Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary, the biggest rookery for Olive Ridley sea turtles.
Sources said illegal mechanised fishing activities pose a serious threat to the endangered Olive Ridley turtle on Paradip coast. Despite vigil by Coast Guard, turtle mortality continues.

Thousands of jellyfish washed ashore on Hallandale Beach Thursday morning, covering the shoreline and prompting questions from curious beach patrons.
Lifeguards say this happens about every three years, and they are flying the purple flag, the warning for dangerous marine life.

Sixty-one dead cetaceans were recorded between January and March by Cornwall Wildlife Trust.

A fishing co-operative said deterrents, including pingers, were being used.
