In the wake of any mass shooting, hysteria erupts about guns. All of the old tropes get dragged out by the left yet again: The NRA is evil, Australia was able to seize them all, the Second Amendment needs to go, etc.
Mind you, none of these actually correspond to reality, but the firearm lies of the left seem to give the media comfort when dealing with the actions of madmen like Stephen Paddock. No one will ever mention that guns are most often used in self-defense, and often serve the purpose of deterring crime without ever being used at all.
At times like these, it’s good to remember men like Nathan Rohler and why he went viral, all thanks to what he heard behind him at the Walmart checkout lane.
In a Facebook post back on Sept. 23, Rohler described what happened when he went into the Lafayette, Louisiana, store while openly carrying a firearm.
“I was in the checkout line today at Walmart when a mother and her two kids got in line behind me. I was carrying my firearm and I overheard one of the kids say ‘mommy he has a gun,’” Rohler wrote..
“The mom told her kid that ‘people are allowed to have guns.’ As curious as the little boy was he asked his mom why I was carrying a gun. The mom told her son that if a bad guy walked into the store I’d protect them and make sure that they are safe.
“This is one of the reasons why I carry and will continue to carry. Not just for my safety, but for the safety of others as well. Hearing the mom say that made me smile. Knowing I could protect her and her kids made me feel good. There’s no other feeling like that in the world. Guns get a lot of bad reputation in this country, but when carried by the right people, they can potentially save lives.”
Rohler’s post has gone viral with over 113,000 “likes,” giving him a moment of internet fame. You can see why: It sends a message about firearms that the liberal media is always trying to hide.
The Second Amendment saves lives. It allows ordinary men and women to protect themselves and others from evildoers. There’s a bevy of statistics that prove the liberal narrative on the right to bear arms is simply wrong. At times like these, it’s important to keep reminding America about that — the same way this mother reminded her son.
