Jay Z and Beyonce may finally be settling down into their forever home. America’s Real First Family has been trying to put down roots in California for quite some time, but they have always been outbid.
However, The Carters just put down a $120 million down on a gated compound in Bel Air. This place is opulence in building form. Perfect for hip-hop royalty.
This 30,000-square-foot mansion (spread out over 2 acres), was designed by famous Irish Architect Paul McClean. It boasts eight-bedrooms, 11-bathrooms, four pools, a recording studio, a basketball court, 15-car garage, and bulletproof plate-glass windows that overlook Los Angeles.
The stunning mansion is said to feature all of McClean’s favorite design elements; and the designer says no expense was spared to create his vision. The Bel Air compound has a total of six buildings, including staff quarters and a spa with a hot tub, sauna, and steam room.
Josh Altman, one of the real estate agents on Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing, said “There [are] some houses on the market that are overpriced. This is not one of them. In my opinion, this house is worth every penny.”
Famous real estate broker Dolly Lenz was also asked her opinion on the estate. She said “My first impression is this is a house built for royalty.” Her favorite aspects were the limestone floors, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, and circular staircase carved from a single piece of wood and lined with leather.
Lenz continued, “It’s open and airy with indoor-outdoor living where you push a button and all the huge, heavy doors [to the home] fall into the walls seamlessly, as if they were never there, opening up to the gardens and the pools. It’s unbelievable to watch it happen.”
Beyonce and Jay Z are expecting twins this summer and Lenz thinks this place has exactly what the growing family needs. A children’s wing — how do families with multiple kids do it without a spacious mansion?
“It’s perfect for a young family like Beyoncé and Jay Z,” says Lenz, who touted the children’s wing, which she says is close, but not too close, to the master bedroom. “You have some privacy, but you can still hear the babies crying.”
With the impending arrival of Red and Green, Jay and Bey have really been focused on settling down. They haven’t had the best luck, as they have lost out on places in the same neighborhood as this one twice now.
The gated estate would give the family the privacy that they take so very seriously. The Carters may have found their perfect home.
