National Border Patrol Council President is praising Trump for his efforts to slow down illegal immigration coming from across the southern border.
This month Customs and Border Protection reported an astounding 53% drop in illegal arrests versus the same time last year. And the border patrol is thanking President Trump for his policies and crediting the drop to him. The President of the Council Brandon Judd said the following in an interview with C-SPAN on July 17th:
“As far as the Trump administration’s efforts on immigration, this is something they campaigned heavily on. At six months, where we are on meeting those promises, we are seeing nothing short of miraculous. If you look at the rhetoric that President Trump has given, it has caused a number of illegal border crossings to go down. We have never seen such a drop that we currently have.
“There’s a vibe, there’s an energy in the Border Patrol that’s never been there before in 20 years that I’ve been in the patrol.”
While the Border Patrol is aware that less arrests does not mean that less people have attempted to cross the border, they do feel that it is a good indication.
Judd believes that President Trump’s policies have allowed the Border Patrol to do their job instead of the rhetoric of former President Obama who restricted the ability of the Patrol to act.
In the 2016 election, for the first time ever, the Border Patrol endorsed a candidate – Donald Trump.
The Border Patrol is seeing less attempted crossings, leading to less arrests, leading to a lower number of illegal immigrants entering the country.
