Dr. Jane Goodall, one of the world’s most prominent and popular primatologists, ethologists, and anthropologists, is starting to make a lot of noise about genetically modified foods and organisms (GMOs). She’s no stranger to speaking out against them, and joins a very long and growing list of scientists and activists trying to create awareness about the risks they pose to human health and to the environment.
In September of 2014, she called for a complete ban of GMOs on her website, urging the citizenry of the world to boycott them. She’s also been very vocal about the pesticides that are commonly sprayed on our food. A simple Google or YouTube search can suffice if you are looking to hear more about her stance on GMOs and pesticides.
“How could we have ever believed that it was a good idea to grow our food with poisons?” – Jane Goodall
It’s always great to see someone with such a wide reach raise their voice about important and controversial issues. This time, Goodall’s support comes in the form of praise for a new book written by Steven M. Druker, J.D, who is the Executive Director at the Alliance for Bio-Integrity.
“As part of the process, they portrayed the various concerns as merely the ignorant opinions of misinformed individuals – and derided them as not only unscientific, but anti-science. They then set to work to convince the public and government officials, through the dissemination of false information, that there was an overwhelming expert consensus, based on solid evidence, that GMOs were safe.” (source)
The book is titled “Altered Genes, Twisted Truth: How the Venture to Genetically Engineer Our Food Has Subverted Science, Corrupted Government, and Systematically Deceived the Public.”
The book reveals countless examples of scientific fraud. It educates people on how genetic engineering of the world’s food supply came to be, and how the movement progressed by violating the protocols of science. It touches upon how many scientists and institutions have systematically twisted the truth in order to hide the risks associated with GMOs.
“Altered Genes, Twisted Truth provides a graphic account of how this elaborate fraud was crafted and how it not only deceived the general public, but Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Barack Obama and a host of other astute and influential individuals as well. The book also exposes how the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was induced to become a key accomplice and how it has broken the law and repeatedly lied in order to usher genetically engineered foods onto the market without the safety testing that’s required by federal statute. As a result, for fifteen years America’s families have been regularly ingesting a group of novel products that the FDA’s own scientific staff had previously determined to be unduly hazardous to human health.” (source)
Goodall provided the forward for the book:
“Without doubt, one of the most important books of the last 50 years. I shall urge everyone I know who cares about life on earth, and the future of their children, and children’s children, to read it. Steven Druker is a her0. He deserves at least a nobel prize.” (source)
Some other reviews of the book:
“Altered Genes, Twisted Truth will stand as a landmark. It should be required reading in every university biology course.” – Joseph Cummins, Ph.D. Professor Emeritus of Genetics, Western University, London, Ontario
“This incisive and insightful book is truly outstanding. Not only is it well-reasoned and scientifically solid, it’s a pleasure to read – and a must-read. Through its masterful marshalling of facts, it dispels the cloud of disinformation that has misled people into believing that GE foods have been adequately tested and don’t entail abnormal risk.” –David Schubert, Ph.D. molecular biologist and Head of Cellular Neurobiology, Salk Institute for Biological Studies
“Steven Druker’s meticulously documented, well-crafted, and spellbinding narrative should serve as a clarion call to all of us. In particular, his chapter detailing the deadly epidemic of 1989-90 that was linked with a genetically engineered food supplement is especially significant. I and my Mayo Clinic colleagues were active participants in the attempt to identify the cause of this epidemic. Druker provides a comprehensive analysis of all the evidence and also presents new findings from our work. Overall his discussion of this tragic event, as well as its ominous implications, is the most comprehensive, evenly balanced and accurate account that I have read.”–Stephen Naylor, PhD CEO and Chairman of MaiHealth Inc., Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, & Pharmacology Mayo Clinic (1991-2001)

The scientific fraud when it comes to GMOs is quite clear, and the risk assessments that have been conducted regarding their safety have been very weak. The book is quite detailed in its analysis, its research is well-documented, and the examples it provides are numerous.
Even though one of the quotes below is with regards to our medical industry, I thought it was very fitting for this article as this type of scientific manipulation occurs at many levels.
“It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgement of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of the New England Journal of Medicine [considered to be one of the most prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals in the world].” – Dr Marcia Angell, Physician, Author, Former Editor in Chief of the NEJM (source)
“By slipping it into our food without our knowledge, without any indication that there are genetically modified organisms in our food, we are now unwittingly part of a massive experiment. Any scientist or politician that tells you these GMOs are safe is either stupid or lying.” (source 1)(source 2)
As far as science goes, we (Collective Evolution) have presented a number of articles citing numerous studies that clearly show why GMOs and pesticides can be detrimental to the environment and human health.
