A Real Life Living Fossil Was Found In Japan, And It’s An Ancient Horror

So there was me sitting at my desk under the impression that all the dinosaurs were dead – but apparently I had it all wrong. It turns out that while scientists agree that dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago, some monsters from way back when are still thriving.

Recently, a frankly frightening sea beast called a frilled shark was captured on film… perfect ammunition for my nightmares, cheers. With needle sharp teeth, this beastie is pretty damn mental. Add into the mix that some of its fossils are 95 million years old, and you begin to see that this thing has outlived pretty much everything on Earth.

Scientists say it’s possible that this thing has been lurking around on Earth for 380 million years.

This creature’s needle-sharp teeth aren’t the creepiest things about it, however. More haunting is the fact that some fossils of this shark are 95 million years old, though scientists say it’s possible that this thing has been lurking for 380 million years.

Very few people have seen this shark first hand, which is understandable, since it makes its home 2,000 feet below the ocean’s surface. Almost 400 million years of existence makes humanity’s 200,000 years on Earth look pretty unimpressive, right?
